Review of Challenging Destiny
Number 22, April 2006

This review is by Rich Horton, from Locus (July 2006, Issue 546, Vol. 57 No. 1).

From Challenging Destiny for April, "The Anabe Girls" by A.R. Morlan extrapolates the fashion industry's fixation with thinness quite wickedly, as a modeling agency takes advantage of anorexic girls in a rather extreme way. Jay Lake's "Eye Teeth" is enjoyable SF/gangster stuff: as a small time crook type ends up in the middle of an alien invasion, but some weird tech, and the help of good union labor, solve the problem.
